Hello friends and welcome to another delectable Beneath The Surface edition. For those of you who are new here, this lovely little feature is where we uncover, unravel, unleash and get down to the bare bones of all things music with each and every talented artist we feature. Todays follows perfect suit as we welcome the wonderful Safiyyah.
What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?
I’ve been brought up with rnb/hip hop music from my mum loving music from reggae, to jungle to rnb. My love for music sparked at a young age I have some old videos of me dancing and singing to old school tunes. My manager inspired me to make music, I always wanted to sing and make music but I didn’t believe in myself.
How would you describe the music you are currently creating?
The music at the moment is constantly growing, Im a perfectionist so I always always want to do even better than my previous projects. I would describe it as me, expressing myself soulful and upbeat at the same time.
What does your creative process look like?
My creative process at the moment I would be writing at home by myself, come up with ideas and experiences with my life as well. Then head to one of my friends studios to make it come to life, depending on the time we either create something there and then or a producer would present something with the style I described.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)
Hmmm, I’d say Destin Conrad, JMSN or BERWYN
What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?
I love you guys, thank you for supporting and I can’t wait to share more art with you. I would also say just live your life, be as positive as you can be and the universe will hear you.
What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?
Good question, I sometimes listen to just random instrumentals and try and write I also just get into the zone. Burn some incense have some tea and just meditate that really helps.
What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?
Oooo, I have an exciting concept EP coming out and a few tunes out before. So stay tuned!
