Don Powell, founding member and drummer of the legendary English rock band Slade, has released his debut album with the new band Don & The Dreamers. Backed by an all-star line-up of Nordic hitmakers, Don and his band deliver a powerful blend of blues and rockabilly, showcasing their musical prowess and old-school showmanship.
Titled “It’s Never Too Late to be a Rockstar,” the album is a testament to Don’s enduring passion for music, even decades after his success in the glam rock scene. The Dreamers, consisting of Norwegian and Danish musicians, bring their own impressive resumes to the table, having appeared on over a thousand albums, EPs, and singles combined.
The album features mostly live recordings, with only a few added features such as gospel singers, saxophones, harmonica, and organ by rock legend Mick Gallagher. It also pays homage to The Animals with a cover of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” and a refreshed arrangement of Slade’s “Far Far Away.”
