Brighton 4-piece Comforts return with their breezy, shimmering new single ‘Mixed Signals’, showcasing their strongest release yet.
Produced by & mixed by renowned producer Alexander Gordon (Sundara Karma, The Cure, Rag ’n’ Boneman), ‘Mixed Signals’ posses a bright and vibrant indie exterior whilst retaining a distinct musicality and a melancholic, emotional depth.
Layers of chorus-tinted, picky, interlocking guitar lines which float atmospherically over a tight skeleton of drums and deep bass. Topped with some effortlessly impactful vocals, lead singer Sam treads through the trials and tribulations of a fraught relationship with honest lyricism and emotional delivery. Demonstrating their impeccable ability to write an impactful and catchy chorus, the track is not only musically pleasing but also commercially viable.
Speaking about the meaning behind the single, the band explains: “Mixed Signals is about two close friends going through a pretty bad break up at the time. It was quite toxic & so they’d both be calling each other, not picking up the phone which would result in huge fights! We wrote this song from their perspective, about one long night in particular. I guess there are always two sides to every story.”
With a whole host of tastemaker and radio support, the band are certainly an exciting talent well worth keeping your eye on.
