London-based duo Balancing Act drop debut single ‘Cold’

Balancing Act drop edgy debut single ‘Cold’, packing plenty of warmth, blending the sounds of guitars and synth bass to create a truly captivating, yet unpredictable and distinctive sound.

The duo consists of two freshly-formed friends in Kai Roberts and Jackson Couzens, who crossed paths on separate music projects. Formerly from Manchester, and now based in their new territory of London, Balancing Act’s debut single (produced by Sunglasses for Jaws) entwines indie-rock mixed with eerie dark synth elements.

Kai speaks on how they define themselves; “Our roots are in rock music but we’re always trying to incorporate other genres to keep our ideas fresh and exciting. With ‘Cold’ we tried to bring elements of Trip Hop and Krautrock. We wanted to make something you can get lost in, something hypnotic with a lot of depth.”

The artist continues “It’s been quite a frustrating time for most musicians over the last couple of years. The main thing keeping us going was writing together and creating something we found inspiring.”

Balancing Act are ‘working hard in the studio on their first EP’ with more singles due for release in the next few months, so we will keep a watchful eye on this upcoming pair.
