Biskee Brisht stun with their latest festive single, ‘Christmas Morning’

The festive season is well and truly upon us, and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by listening to Biskee Brisht’s latest single, ‘Christmas Morning’?

Biskee Brisht (Manx language for ‘Broken Biscuit’) are an indie-folk octet from the Isle of Man. Their sound is refreshing and unique, comprised of vocals, ukulele, trumpet, trombone, accordion, guitar, percussion, bass and drums. They cite their musical influences as incredibly diverse, ranging from The Beatles to Sharon Van Etten.

The band’s second ever Christmas release, ‘Christmas Morning’ is unlike your standard jolly festive tune. Instead, it is haunting, dreamy and absolutely guaranteed to give you goosebumps. Ruby, the band’s front-woman, remarks that the song explores feelings of “disappointment, stagnation, depression, fear” that have stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The song is simple yet utterly beautiful, with it’s soft vocals and soothing melodies of accordion, brass and percussion. It is the perfect accompaniment to those sombre December nights where you’re curled up on the sofa with your Christmas lights on and a hot drink in hand.

‘Christmas Morning’ will be the bittersweet, mellow tune that will shine brightly on your Christmas playlist this festive season.
