Formed in 2017, JEPH is a promising Indie-Rock band from the South Coast of England. Having already released three singles: All I Do, Hey Baby and Harry whilst performing alongside the likes of Ed the Dog and Jerry Williams. The four-piece, who recently signed to Honeymooner Records, are destined for great things.
Whilst speaking of their charm as a band, they reveal that ‘a large chunk of our lyrics are about heartbreak – not just in the romantic sense, there is a lot to be heartbroken about in the world right now’. But whilst the band does an incredible job of capturing emotional and heartfelt lyrics that resonate with their dedicated fan base, they simultaneously embed it with layered instrumentals and fresh, dynamic soundscapes that produce a song that that is endlessly playable. Lola is no different.
Lolais powerful, it screams passion through the vehicle of breath-taking vocals and a catchy rhythm. Every time the song finishes we just want to play it again and again and it would be a pleasure for us to have the head-banging chorus stuck in our heads for days on end. The single effortlessly transports us as if it’s the soundtrack to a headstrong character’s 90’s movie, panning as she’s running through the streets. In all honesty, it could be. It’s nostalgic and intoxicating – it makes us want to be unpredictable. LOLA combines the riotous striking influence of Wolf Alice and sculpts it alongside the emotionally-rich sounds of Alvvays and is left with what is, in my opinion, one of the most feel-good songs of the last few months.
LOLA was released on the 3rd Mayy 2019 across all platforms and I’d highly recommend listening to it as soon as you can. Once you’ve listened and become addicted like we have, make sure you get down to one of their upcoming live shows including their support slot at Turtle Tempo’s showcase at The Finsbury on 25thMay 2019. JEPH will be performing alongside The Barratt’s supporting Voodoo and the Crypts – make sure you get down to see some incredible acts!
