Boy Pablo headlined with support from likeable Liverpudlians SPINN, who may draw immediate comparisons with their hometown counterparts The Night Café, but these guys still have their very own distinctive sound and endearingly confident stage persona.
Supporting Norway’s chill-pop artist Boy Pablo at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, their biggest support slot to date in terms of streaming numbers, a buzzy audience gathered to see SPINN – who play at the same venue at the all-day CloseUp Festival on 12th May.
Lead singer Jonny could be seen busting dance moves throughout their whole set, and having banter with their pals in the audience throughout, may have admitted on stage that he’s not exactly keen on their love song She Takes Her Time, but it still got a huge reception from the crowd.
Who You Are and their main 1,000,000 stream banger Notice Me also got rapturous applause, with a mosh pit kicking off for the later of the two.
If you’re into jangly dream-pop and just decent indie music in general, you’re gonna love spinning a bit of SPINN.
Boy Pablo had a tough act to follow but absolutely smashed his sold-out second Hoxton show of the day. Pablo’s vocals were as crystal clear as the recorded versions themselves.
Playing a cover of Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ got the packed adoring capacity audience singing along.
Merging ‘Dance, Baby!’ and ‘Everytime’ together after an encore, it really was like a party atmosphere that sucked when it was all over, but still left you with a fireball of euphoria inside.
