5 For Friday – 13.10.17 – Ded Rabbit

While we count down the days until Ded Rabbit come to The Finsbury in London on the 6th November for their upcoming UK tour, the Yorkshire-born now Scotland-based brothers have kindly selected their 5 For Friday selections.

Ded Rabbit recently found TV fame with their hit release ‘Figurine’ which was first premiered on Turtle Tempo and featured after the opening credits of Hollyoaks earlier this year, as well as recently playing a live session for BBC Scotland, so it’s nice that these lot are still level headed enough to chat with us!

DED RABBIT: We love the ‘Dddd doom city’ lyric and how the guitars follow the melody. We love how the track changes pace, twists and turns but still manages to stay pretty mellow and hypnotic.
Since we became fans of this band we’ve devoured everything King Gizzard have done. We’re big fans of the Austrailian psychedelic scene but King Gizzard stand out for us as they bring a few different genres together, the more recent microtonal progression ads an eerie mood to their melodies.

DED RABBIT: We came across this scrolling though SoundCloud of all places. Like the minimal arrangement and general vibe to it all with a cool hook in the chorus and great lyrics.

DED RABBIT: We loved the first Alvvays album and this track of their next release has got us excited. Their songwriting has always appealed to us. Eoin recently saw them in Glasgow and said it was an amazing gig.

DED RABBIT: Anglo-Australian indie rockers Splashh always get a spin when we’re on the road. Love the verses in this song and how chorus change into a half time feel. We’d like to gig with them sometime.

DED RABBIT: Good to see Soulwax returning with a great album. This track has had a lot of plays from us over the summer. Love the production on this album also.
