PREMIERE: ‘The Haze’ by Orange Soul

Orange Soul brings us a dose of pop-infused folk in the form of new single ‘The Haze’. The Brighton-based duo is brothers Henry and John Tydeman, The epic nature of the composition gives the song a movie soundtrack quality. But, despite their young age, the pair has mastered the ability to create eerie vocal harmonies.

While a piano and guitar create the perfect canvass for the ghostly vocals to float over. The song is an intense account of hospital visits and gruelling treatments.  Orange Soul does well to capture the emotions of undergoing such stressful procedures. With the dream-like atmosphere representing the confusion that comes with anaesthetic. Everything comes together to make ‘The Haze’ a beautiful piece of music.

As a result, the song has received support from BBC Introducing; an obvious sign that these guys are going places. If the duo continues writing intense songs, while experimenting with sound and spacial awareness, then they could find themselves writing for TV or cinema like Mogwai have done.
