2016 was a fantastic year for Sundara Karma. With a lot of tour dates, and more and more attention from well-known music platforms such as Radio 1, they are poised to rise even further in the consciousness of the music scene in 2017.
Their new single, “Happy Family”, is an exciting taste of their debut album “Youth is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect”, which is out on the 6th of January.
A plucky guitar riff opens the song, which is simple but sweet and catchy. The track gives a pleasant feeling of nostalgia at first, and becomes more rousing – it’s hard not to close your eyes and dance to it by the end. Not many people would be able to finish the song and stay in a bad mood, which is strangely contradictory to the tone of the lyrics. They have managed to capture that simultaneous feeling of happiness and sadness, which has produced a single that you can listen to over and over again.
Sundara Karma are set to have a big year, so don’t miss their new album. The band will also support Two Door Cinema Club on their UK tour which kicks off in a few weeks time, you can grab tickets here.
