Rat Boy certainly impressed myself and the audience with their brilliant set of their original well-known songs such as ‘Sign On’ along with playing a lot of new songs expected to be on their debut album.
After the gig moving to Electric Brixton, having originally been organised to take place at O2 Academy Shepard’s Bush Empire, it turned out to be a brilliant venue for Rat Boy with the whole venue being standing and allowing a lot more fans to be on the floor standing and being in the thick of the action!
The night started brilliantly with the first support act being the very talented two-piece Cosmo. The duo performed a brilliant support set that set the fans up perfectly and they really looks like a promising artist. Cosmo was closely followed by the second support act on the night – Skaters. Skaters received a massive reception from the crowd and meant that fans were buzzing going into Rat Boys headline set.
Rat Boy opened their set brilliantly with the latest single ‘Move’ with their new masks that they wear for the opening intro which looked incredible and sent the crowd crazy with this brilliant hit before launching into five new songs including my personal favourite from this ‘Stick Up Kids’ with all the tunes getting a great reception.
The middle of the sat got all the fans singing at the top of their voices as they went into their well known singles ‘Sportswear’, ‘Hanging Around’, ‘Left 4 Dead’ and ‘Wasteman’ which all sounded incredible live.
From this they went into four new songs that once again gained a brilliant reaction and have certainly left fans wanting more and excited for this new album, before smashing into their encore of the massive tunes ‘Sign On’ and ‘Fake ID’.
All in all, Rat Boy is certainly one of the best live acts I have seen recently and they are certainly leaving fans excited for the album with the new tunes that they played!
