Born and bred in Nottinghamshire – Callum Burrows AKA Saint Raymond has been making a name for himself ever since he started creating music. After touring locally, he released his EP titled ‘Escapade’ in 2013 – incredibly; in that same year he played the BBC introducing stage at Reading and Leeds Festival. Yet despite opening at various venues for HAIM and Ed Sheeran respectively, you wouldn’t be wrong to suggest that this young indie rock/pop singer still hasn’t received the amount of attention that he thoroughly deserves.
His debut album ‘Young Blood’ was released last year, and he embarked on a subsequent UK and Ireland tour – which I personally had the privilege of attending. His most popular song (and one of my personal favourites) is ‘I Want You’ which has over 3 million plays on Spotify. The artist himself tallies up no less than 250,000 monthly listeners.
With euphoric highs and honest lows this under appreciated artist has much more to come. His music will fit both hot summer days by the beach and cosy days spent only in your bed sheets.
Another one of my favourite Saint Raymond tracks is ‘Wild Heart’ with its honest-to-goodness lyrics and a chorus you can’t help but shout along to. Similarly, ‘Be There’ must be blared from your speakers. On the other end of the spectrum is ‘Brighter Days’ which speaks of the loneliness of losing friends to opportunities and has an honesty which is largely missing from so much of today’s music.
Make sure you check out Saint Raymond on his Soundcloud , Spotify as well as on Twitter.
