As with many music recommendations, it’s hard to shake off that sceptical feeling as naturally you want them to be worth the hype. As soon as I heard the intro to ‘New Ends’ by indie rockers Sugarthief – I realised what all the fuss was about.
The uplifting guitar riffs are accompanied by angsty vocals, everything you could ask for in a rock track. Although the initial vibes reminded me of the likes of Saint Raymond and The Sherlocks; don’t be fooled into thinking that Sugarthief are just a glorified version of them. Instead, they bring an incredibly unique sound to the table whist simultaneously keeping in touch with the idea of rock ‘n roll.
While the song itself talks about endings, it is clear that Sugarthief are just beginning to make a name for themselves within the music industry and the Staffordshire-based quartet have just recently released their follow up single ‘Crowing Youth’ of which I am also a huge fan of.
You can find them on iTunes, Soundcloud and Spotify, so don’t just take my word for it, give them a listen, honestly, you will not be disappointed!
