London Singer-Songwriter Jamie Knox Channels 90s Alt-Rock On New Single ‘This Is Not Your House’

Capturing an air of 90s alt-rock, London singer-songwriter Jamie Knox is back with the new single ‘This Is Not Your House’.

Inspired by the isolation brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the new single is the first release from an upcoming album themed around the aspiration for hope and managing the dark places your mind can go to when you’re alone. Jamie adds: “This was my attempt to search for new meaning in a moment when it seemed like nothing would ever change for the better. It’s essentially self-therapy through music. I felt I needed to express the conversations I was having in my own head.”

Demonstrating a keen ear for production, delicious guitar riffs and infectious songwriting, ‘This Is Not Your House’ captures a melancholic, honest air while retaining a upbeat indie edge. Instantly comparable to ‘The Bends’ era Radiohead and moments of Bloc Party, Jamie shows a lot of potential and offers and exciting insight into the upcoming album.

Speaking about the single Jamie said: “This song is simply about situations that you should feel safe and secure in but you just feel anxious. That constant battle that I think a lot of people relate to, where you just want to stop worrying but have no way of stopping and just want other people to understand how you feel so you don’t have to pretend you’re ok all the time. It’s something I think about a lot. I think everyone wants to be able to tell others when they’re not ok but feel they can’t because it’s not considered ‘normal’.”
