Revealing his brand new single, Kilkenny’s adopted son, John Murry is back with his latest offering, ‘Ones + Zeros’, which sees Murry deliver a characteristically personal and introspective track in melodic, proto-country American style. As the follow up to ‘Oscar Wilde’ (Came Here To Make Fun Of You), John Murry drops ‘Ones + Zeroes’, the second single in the lead up to his forthcoming studio album, The Stars Are God’s Bullet Holes.
Within the track, Murry’s enchanting brand of poetic, self-analysing Americana carries a dark and contemplative mood that sits perfectly besides reverberating melodies and hypnotic backup vocals, delivered by Nadine Khouri. True to his tortured poet’s soul, ‘Ones + Zeros’ bares an inescapable sense of meditation expressed by the forlorn melody, warm analogue crackles and simple percussion, nestled in amongst Murry’s forlorn lyricism. Known for his unending infatuation with the harsher edges of life, Murray’s music does a very special thing; he speaks to the lonely, tortured soul within us all, inviting us to bring our demons out into the light, in order to truly overcome our fears and expel the pain.
