London based singer-songwriter Molly Roberts makes her debut with the gentle, heartfelt and refreshingly optimistic new single ‘Wings To Fly’.
Demonstrating her impeccable ability as a performer and a songwriter, Molly conveys an air of confidence despite this being her first single release. Not relying on lavish production and huge sounds, this piano ballad sees Molly show off her impeccable vocal skills over a stripped backing of piano, bass and strings. Honest and heartfelt, Molly’s songwriting shines through with soaring melodies complimented by layers of vocal harmonies.
Speaking about the single Molly said: “Wings To Fly is a song about resilience and hope and having enough courage to follow your dreams, no matter how difficult it may be or how many challenges you face. The overall message of the song is about seizing the day and learning to embrace change.
I wrote ‘Wings To Fly’ quite quickly in the summer of 2021. I was listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell and Carole King and so I tried to write something which was both emotional but also simple. I didn’t want too much production on the track either. I recorded a version with a much larger orchestration with percussion and synths but instead decided that a simple and more classic arrangement worked better. I decided to record and add a live string quartet to the track too which I think enhanced the emotional build of the song.”
A talented artist with a bright future, Molly Roberts is definitely one to watch!
