Mexican-American Solo Artist Dela Paz Finds His Indie Edge On ‘Favorite Dress’

Mexican-American solo artist Dela Paz fuses indie with pop on the expertly put together new single ‘Favorite Dress’. Catchy light and yet packed with honest emotion, the track is a great demonstration of Paz’s talents as a writer and a performer.

Having opened shows for the likes of rap legend Busta Rhymes and now signing with Lyrical Opposition (the first non rap artist to work with the label) it’s unsurprising that Dela has found his feet as an artist. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Blackbear, Jeremy Zucker, Maisie Peters, Lauv and Isaac Dunbar, Dela’s sound is relatable and packed with commercial appeal whilst remaining musically mature. Blending muted guitar lines with punchy electronic drums and airy synth lines on ‘Favorite Dress’, Dela is given the space to display his stylistic breathy vocal tones before bursting into his gritty delivery on the tracks ear-worm chorus.

Speaking on the message behind ‘Favorite Dress’, Dela said: “Favorite Dress portrays a difficult stage in a relationship as a couple highlights their past, their desire of not giving up and their fear of making the same mistakes again. This is a song for those who have gone through a heartbreak which one learns from. It shows how through heartbreak, some things never change.”

Proving that he is not only a singer-songwriter with immense potential, Dela also gives back to his community by working with sunset youth services to give long-term stability and growth to youth, young adults and families through caring relationships and supportive services.

The new single ‘Favorite Dress’ is out now.
