NEW MUSIC: Dan Fuson – Shallow Blue

Nashville’s indie-folk extravaganza Dan Fuson releases brand new single “Shallow Blue” on overcoming insecurities.

It’s hard to believe that only twelve months ago, Dan was buying his first bits and bobs of recording equipment on a whim. Sure, he’d performed in bands for years – Dan is no stranger to the music industry – but this tentative step forward provided him with a new way to express himself through the medium of music. Since then, Dan’s been writing, recording and releasing his own songs from the comfort of his own bedroom, and just today he unveils brand new single “Shallow Blue”.

Inspired by bands such as Kings of Leon and Oasis, “Shallow Blue” features uplifting and epic sounds, contrasted with hopeful, sensitive and somewhat melancholic lyrics. Each instrument is played by Dan (an impressive feat in itself), with lively drums contributed by Brandon Davis and backing vocals courtesy of lifelong friends Sarah Menefee and Kendall Theile. “I wrote it at a time when things were starting to come together for me personally, but I was still having a tough time seeing the beauty and the light in it,” Dan explains, musing that even good change can be difficult to deal with. “Shallow Blue” very much represents the yin and yang of trying to become whole again, exemplified tactfully in raw guitar riffs contrasted with smooth vocals.

Dan notes that “Shallow Blue” is but a taster of what’s to come in his debut EP, whose release date is yet undisclosed. If you’re a big fan of this talented artist’s work so far, sounds like you’ll have to keep up with his social media for further announcements!
