Beginning a brand new week with a bang on todays edition of Beneath The Surface with Lissy Taylor!
What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?
I would say I grew to love music through singing along to the radio or music in the car. I got my first guitar at aged 14 and started having lessons, playing cover songs and started going along to at open mics in pubs around Staffordshire. Then once I moved to the USA, I started experimenting with my own songs.
How would you describe the music you are currently creating?
My music is indie pop with an American influence.
What does your creative process look like?
The creative process varies from song to song. To be honest when I wrote Wildflowers it all came at once, I wrote it in an hour from start to finish.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)
I would love to do a collaboration with CamelPhat. I really like their tunes and would love to sing or write a track with them. I think that would be really cool.
What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?
Be kind to yourself and be kind to others.
What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?
Go do something else for a little bit thats non creative and then come back to it.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Lizzy!
