NEW MUSIC: Huw and the Greater Good – Where To Start

Leeds quintet Huw and the Greater Good release their second single of 2020, “Where To Start”, a glistening indie-folk celebration of love and longing.

Well, “Where To Start”? Huw and the Greater Good have a well-established reputation for delivering ‘heart-on-sleeve, electric moments’, and this new single is yet another feather in their caps. A screaming synth in a busy intro is starkly contrasted with a hushed vocal delivery (not for lack of soul) in the following verses, accompanied by thudding live drums to pull all the elements together. This is a wildly clever and innovative sound that Huw and the Greater Good have no doubt spent their three years perfecting.

The group first formed in 2017 in Leeds, despite all five members hailing from different corners of the United Kingdom. Influences such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cage The Elephant and Water Boys brought them together, this union of talented musicians soon to be seen supporting the likes of Tom Odell and Molotov Jukebox the following year.

It is no wonder that this young band have already seen such success. “Where To Start” is such an inspiring follow-up to the sultry “Welcome Love”, both 2020 releases featuring exquisite production and musicianship. Huw and the Greater Good are masters of creating magic within their songs – heartfelt, sincere and uplifting art.

If this band have caught your ear like they have mine, be sure to follow them on social media to keep up with their future releases.
