NEW MUSIC: Rye Milligan – Silhouette

Rye Milligan returns with brand new single “Silhouette”, an earworm to add some sparkle to your day.

“Silhouette” definitely comes as a welcome distraction from our new daily lives – on my seventeenth day of social distancing, I find myself comforted that artists like Rye Milligan are still gifting us with their brand new bops to satiate our need for new music.

From the very first second, synths shimmer and guitars swirl – Rye’s vocal is arresting, the lyric stunningly relatable. “Silhouette” seems to follow the story of the ‘are-we-aren’t-we’ phase of a budding relationship, and from a distance, Rye lets us be a part of the thrills and spills.

A multi-talented musician (Rye also makes up one quarter of the band Luna Bay), the music video for “Silhouette” sees him perform multiple instruments at once, layering a rich sound for a wonderful live version of the song. You can watch him being a pro below…

Rye explains of the writing process:

“I’ve been tweaking this song’s production on and off for near three years. The actual song fell out in an evening, but the mix, I’ve been working on that for a while. One night when revisiting it, my housemate Alex Ross, the drummer for Luna Bay heard it and liked it. Seeing him excited about my solo music kind of gave me the confidence to get back into it and properly finish the track off.”

Having been awarded BBC Introducing’s Artist of the Week on BBC Radio Wales, Rye Milligan is certainly one to keep an eye on! Should “Silhouette” catch your ear, please show your support by dropping Rye a follow or a like on his social media (listed below).
