The sheer quantity of festivals happening around the UK this summer has been almost mind-blowing. Although this year’s festival season is sadly dwindling to an abrupt end, indie purveyors Hidden Herd have assembled a festival featuring bands who are all on the verge of big things.
Priced at just £10, and all happening within the walls of Brighton’s wonderfully intimate Green Door Store on Saturday the 1st of September, it’s set to be an unmissable event.
Headlining Hidden Herd’s day of exceptional music is The Ninth Wave. The Glaswegians have already received acclaim from the likes of Clash, Wonderland and Dork. Listening to their music makes it easy to understand why they’ve been pinpointed as ones to watch.
Their tracks are crammed to the brim with brooding pop melodies and commanding post-punk guitar hooks. While co-lead vocalists Elina and Haydn are commandingly compelling with their delivery of the bands’ infectious lyricism.
The mysterious and enthralling Another Sky are also set to bewitch Hidden Herd’s festival, with their unique, singular sound. Featuring an atmospheric, expansive haze, their track ‘Forget Yourself’ is as fascinating as it is engrossing. With a sound reminiscent of likes of Everything Everything and Radiohead, this band are truly one of the most unique, intriguingly fascinating bands on the festival’s fantastic lineup.
Another band gracing Green Door Store’s welcomingly intimate stage is London-based band Pelicandy, who have made a name for themselves with their unique brand of impassioned psych-pop. Their standout track ‘Animals’ hypnotises with delightfully assertive drums and delicious, feverish guitar rhythms.
Even though these three bands alone are more than sufficient to justify the tenner admission, Hidden Herd is also bringing along Wooze, Hot Dreams, Beachtape, Drip Gloss, Yawwn, Safe To Swim and The Villaś to Brighton’s Green Door Store this September.
You’d be an utter fool to miss what’s set to be a mind-blowingly brilliant day of music set in one of Brighton’s best venues.
Tickets are available via. DICE here, and make sure you could check out Hidden Herd’s Twitter page here for all of their latest event info.
