Aylesbury-based band Blushes experiment and infuse their music with a criss-cross of individually influenced genres, including Pop, RnB and Post-Punk. Blended together seamlessly with male-female driven vocals in their edgy, and possibly their darkest release to date in ‘Honey’.
Formed in early 2016, the alternative quartet have been subject to support from the likes of BBC Introducing and NME. I feel like it would be pretty intriguing to witness how a single comes into fruition from these guys, as one verse seems as unpredictable as the next.
With that said, they could potentially be a marmite type of band for some with the way their sounds explore and delve deep into a variety of alternative subgenres. We love marmite though – and it’s possibly fair to say you’ll struggle to compare this band with anyone else about, although their latest release has given me a Muse-like kind of vibe.
Blushes have admirable originality and will certainly be one to keep an eye on this year as they stay true to their strictly alternative music.
You can catch them at The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington on Feb 21st, tickets are available here.
