Since writing iPhone Therefore I Am – a single about how we’re obsessed with our phones, do you find yourself using your phone less?
Well I’m writing these answers on my phone so I guess not.
Besides phones, what else annoys you?
Right-wing politics, vague answers to ‘what annoys you’ questions, other stuff.

I genuinely do really like it. It reminds me of my childhood. I was born up a guanabana tree.

Are there any artists that you draw inspiration from?
I love that Randy Newman often writes in character and mixes humour with melancholy. I’ve seen him live three times now and I’m going again in 2018.
You recently played a sold out album launch show at The Finsbury with support from Lewis Bootle – how was that night for you on a personal level?
I’ve never experienced a crowd singalong like it. It was a big moment for me and one I will never forget.
What are your personal favourite songs off of your album Volcano?
Probably Volcano and Milk Teeth
Do you have any plans for 2018? Any New Year’s resolutions?
I’m touring ‘An Evening With Gecko’ around the UK in March, as well as releasing a music video for my song ‘Rapunzel’ then I tour the Netherlands, Germany and Scandinavia. Resolution: read more books, less phone time, from now on I will answer all interview questions on an iPad.
You’re trapped in a lift with two people (can’t be a lift repair person) who would you like to be stuck in a lift with?
A shadow puppet extraordinaire and David Attenborough. They will perform The Blue Planet Shadow puppet version for eternity / until we’re saved.
Have you ever snuck into a festival?
I know a guy who knows a guy that can sort a wristband if you turn left at the closest cow to that tree with the stuff on it by the brook.
