NEW MUSIC: Swings and Roundabouts – We Are Animals

Four-piece punk rock band We Are Animals have released their much anticipated debut single Swings and Roundabouts. They celebrated the release of the single with a night performing at the Spice of Life in Soho, London.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly the kind of sound these guys create so imagine a mixture of Green Day, Sex Pistols and Minor Threat and you’re on the right track. The song starts with a harsh repetitive riff before going into a full blown instrumental prior to the first verse, as soon as it kicks in the song maintains this energy until the very end. It’s written about the concept of a relationship not progressing as it should be and figuring out whether or not it is worth continuing along that line.

Put together so well it really is difficult to believe that this is their first single as a band. The video that goes along with it is a DIY video from the band themselves where you get a real chance to get a feel for what they’re about. Who doesn’t love an animal party? Have a look at their single and their surprising acoustic cover of Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex which was released on Valentines Day.
