Remember when listening to Maroon 5 was socially acceptable? When ‘This Love’ was all the rage before sell out hits like ‘Moves Like Jagger’ scourged the charts?
Well, forget crying over spoilt milk, as Hertfordshire up-and-comers Club Drive channel a youthful Maroon 5 on their new single ‘Leaving’, whilst at the same time bringing fresh blood into the indie scene.
Taken from their debut EP ‘Dangerous’ which arrived in September, the song is a summer dance hit as catchy as it is smooth. A polished lovesick gem about a muddled relationship – the formula is as old as time itself, but still works brilliantly.
Lead vocalist Aaron Trowbridge’s vocals, alongside bearing an uncanny resemblance to Adam Levine’s, are perfectly suited to the funky-pop rock sound the band is striving for. With a tune leagues ahead of its own reach, Club Drive show extreme promise as a new artist to watch out for in 2017.
With a debut EP under their belts and a UK tour pencilled in for March, you’d be a fool not to check them out.
