The 10 Best Breakthrough Acts of 2016 is our very own countdown of some of the best artists that have set the blogosphere alight in the last 12 months. We guarantee that if you haven’t heard of any of these acts, you’ll certainly be in awe of them now.

We’ll be winding down to Christmas and counting up two at a time as we name our #10 favourite acts of the year. You can see who finished 9th and 10th in our list here.


At #8 is Sundara Karma, the alternative-rock quartet have had a whirlwind year gaining support from all over the UK and rightly so.

The Reading-based band are set to release their 12-track debut album early next year titled ‘Youth is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect’.


Our lucky #7 is The Big Moon, the all-female four-piece fronted by Juliette Jackson have performed dozens of gigs this year in Europe and in the USA. with a lot of touring around the world under their belts for this year, you wouldn’t bet against The Big Moon having an even bigger, brighter year next year with their album on the horizon.

Hailing from London, the hard-working group release their debut album in April 2017. We’re buzzing to hear it. Their music is made for the stage, for their fans to triumphantly scream their lyrics back at them.
