Hailing straight from the Steel City that brought us Arctic Monkeys and The Sherlocks, The Wired are a band with bags of potential and sky-high expectations.
The quartet, made up of Caleb Smelt, Jacob Beaumont, Richard May and Harris Slater, formed simply as a sixth-form project at All Saints Catholic High School. They have since released an EP (held lovingly in my CD collection for almost two years now) entitled ‘Don’t Settle For Second’. The EP features four songs which document the pure talent these lads possess – it’s easy listening for any indie or alternative fan.
Just to give you a taste of what The Wired are up to now, here’s one of their more recent singles, ‘Ageing Youth’. It’s fun, it’s loud and it’s everything I think makes a top-class tune you want to have a good time with.
The Wired regularly play some of their hometown’s greatest venues so get yourself along – see what the hype is about.
