TRACK OF THE WEEK: ‘Walking Backwards’ by Leagues

Are you looking for that song to burn bridges to and look onwards to better things? Chances are that Leagues, rock-duo from Nashville, Tennessee, have the recipe to concoct exactly the hit you’re after.

The result of that recipe is the indescribably badass ‘Walking Backwards’ and we think it well deserves to be featured as this week’s illustrious Turtle Tempo Track of the Week.

Keen fans of the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black may recognise this song from season one but for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, ‘Walking Backwards’ is a track featuring on Leagues first studio album titled ‘You Belong Here’. It’s a powerful alternative rock track that says: “I’m confused but I’m feeling liberated. I’m moving on and I’m finding something amazing. It’s about time for something new.”

It’s been around two years since I discovered this hit and by some God-given miracle, no matter how much I turn to it in times of lacking strength or confidence, it never fails to empower me. I hope that you, our wonderful readers, can feel the same about this bloody sensational tune.

Leagues second studio album, ‘Alone Together’, will be released on the 9th of September this year. Feel free to follow Leagues on their social media, or check out their website here.
