Formed in December 2014, The Strawberries are a fresh new band creating psychedelic rock and roll for the modern generation.
Sam Neil, Ben Lucas, Ethan Lee Sherwin, Joe Dines and Ben Heath are the indie ideals that make up The Strawberries. The five-piece are based around Hyde Park in Leeds and have already played alongside some of the best, such as The Coral, Blossoms and The Zutons.
The Strawberries are unsigned as of yet and have released one gorgeous single entitled ‘Laburnum House’, yet my absolute favourite track is the guaranteed crowd-pleaser, ‘Scarlett’s Shadow’. It’s a gem fuelled by classic rock and roll and hints at influences from The Beatles to the guitar style of AC/DC.
‘Dreams of Polystyrene’ truly is a hit, reminiscent of the psychedelic era in the 60’s/early 70’s. The Strawberries ability to capture that moment in music and bring it to 2016 is a blessing for those of us who missed out on the birth of rock and roll. If you ever encounter this band live, get on your dancing shoes.
The Strawberries are due to play Leeds Brudenell Social Club on Saturday 15th of October.
