A fantastic line-up, tranquil setting and several stray flamingos, made 110 Above a weekend I will never forget. Whether you’ve experience with festivals before, a first timer, or even looking for a family-friendly festival, this affordable festival pulls out all the stops. Its intimate site makes it easy to get around, whether it be to see an act at any of the three stages, get yourself an incredible duck hoisin pizza from the Pizza Stand or back to your campsite for an evening of laughs with your friends.
HAUS: Ashley Mulimba(Vocals).
Its fantastically decorated stage area makes you feel as though you’ve entered a secret garden party. With, activities like drumming, hula hooping and entertainment such as a fire dancer, there is something at every twist and turn never leaving you a dull moment when waiting for acts.
FLYTE: Will Taylor (lead vocals, guitar), Sam Berridge (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Jon Supran (drums, backing vocals) and Nicolas Hill (bass, backing vocals).
The line-up this year was incredible with acts like, Circa Waves, Blaenavon and Jade Bird. It is honestly so difficult to choose, as I thoroughly enjoyed every act we saw at 110, however my top five are as follows;
Flyte reminded me of a modern-day Sgt. Peppers, their sound is absolutely mesmerizing. Their catchy lyrics had the crowd singing along to songs like, Marry Me Archie, a cover of a song by band, Alvvays. Their echo-like rhythm drifts through the crowd creating a truly pleasant, dream-like atmosphere.
PEACE: Harrison Koisser, (Vocals and Guitar.), Douglas Castle, (Guitarist.)
After seeing Peace twice now, I can safely say they always bring it when they perform. Playing older atmospheric tunes like 1998, to new music from their empowering album Kindness is the New Rock and Roll.
I hadn’t really listened to them before 110 Above, however, through songs like Bonnie, Anteros delivered a positive message through an electric atmosphere and a punchy performance, which definitely left me wanting more.
- JORDAN MACKAMPA
Jordan Mackampa delivered us an honest performance, which had a very soulful and organic essence. He played his newly released song “One in the Same”, which is a fantastic listen, that is sure to melt the heart.
A charismatic band, who’s lead singer’s dance moves remind me of Joy Division front man Ian Curtis. Spinn brought us a fun bouncy summer time vibe, which certainly fit with the hot weather we had.
110 Above, has completely changed my perspective of what a festival should be. I can honestly say that I feel 110 Above Festival caters incredibly well to its goers more than any festival I have attended. I would like to thank the staff and organizers for creating a truly warm and welcoming festival, which I shall be returning to in the future.
