I grabbed a chat with Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer EKKO. We chatted all things music in this edition of Beneath the Surface.
What first got you into music/who inspired you to make music?
I started out writing poems, and later on put chords to what I had written- and from this I wrote more and more songs. The process was quite natural.
How would you describe the music you are currently creating?
I find it difficult to put a name on my own music, but I would say it is very much exists under the pop umbrella. Thats what I love about pop music-that it has the possibility of being so much, and draw from different genres.
What does your creative process look like?
I usually write down ideas all the time, and draw upon these when I am creating a specific project, or a song. I am always looking for something that is worth while writing about- whether that’s a feeling, a situation or another person.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)
What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?
That Im happy they listen to my music.
What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?
To see it as an exercise. You cannot fail when it’s just an exercise.
What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?
More music is being released soon. My EP “Symptoms” will be out in the fall.
